London International Gospel Choir (LIGC) is one of the largest open community choirs in London. LIGC evolved out of the award winning London Youth Gospel Choir and continues to enable people who enjoy singing to meet others in a social setting - whilst developing their music and vocal skills.
The name represents the fantastic mixing pot of people that London is and we celebrate this diversity in a welcoming and fun environment.
The choir is open to all, requires no auditions and sings uplifting material including gospel, pop, funk, soul and African traditional.
New singers are welcome the last week of every month, get in touch for more details.
We have reputation for energetic and dynamic performances which has led to various high-profile appearances. Here are some of our favourites:
Stockholm Tour 2016
Prince's Trust Awards Ceremony 2015 for HRH Prince Charles
Rugby World Cup Semi-Finals 2015
The X Factor Final 2014
Live on Sky Arts with Alexandra Burke
Awards Dinner at the House of Commons with the prime minister
02 Shepherds Bush Empire;
The Royal Festival, Queen Elizabeth and Fairfield Halls,
The choir is non-audition, but provides members the ongoing opportunity to train their vocal, theoretical and performance skills.
Whilst inclusive and entirely geared around energetic fun rehearsals, we seek to train hard and deliver high performance standards. The group is a strong social network and is ideal for those who just want to sing and make new friends. Inevitably, this leads to helping people uncover the untapped talent and confidence within themselves.
There are also several opportunities for people to audition for solos and work in smaller groups. Many of our singers become regularly involved in recording studio and live singing at corporate hire events.
The mission of this choir is to get people singing together and enjoying themselves. We sing both secular and non-secular music in a 'gospel style' – rich in harmony and full of movement and expression. Our repertoire ranges from gospel classics to jazz, pop, R ‘n’ B, funk, Spirituals and the root of it all: African Song.
We regularly sing numbers by Stevie Wonder, Ray Charles, Michael Jackson, Justin Timberlake, Whitney Houston, Kirk Franklin, Kurt Carr, Israel Houghton; from shows like 'Jesus Christ Superstar' and films like 'The Blues Brothers', 'The Preacher's Wife' and, of course, both Sister Acts.

LIGC has become one of Nav's main projects and he works very hard to ensure that the experience it gives people; the members, the audiences and the clients/partners; is that peace and comfort that music brings us and the reminder that the energy of community is so valuable. He is proud of the immediate home that LIGC provides for so many singers new to London.
